Crescent Heights Day 47

Ms. Champ is still on vacation, and so is Ms. Alex. Nobody at the front desk and no substitute for them, so we're all covering the phones and entrance intercom.

With Ms. Jodhi and Ms. Leslie helping, we finished changing ten minutes earlier. Ms. Jodhi decided not to teach math today because the kids are too out of control. We walked the kids over to the covered area on our private side of the yard, where the majority of the kids played around us. It felt so peaceful with Ms. Jodhi watching them with us. I wanted to ask her if we could bring math inside, but it's better to skip it until the kids learn the rules of the playground.

When it came close to 3:30, I tried to keep the kids nearby. Charles ran away, but I got him to run towards me, into my arms, and he stayed in my arms until we went in. I braced myself so if he put all of his weight on me, I wouldn't fall and it was easy to hold him up. I like these little solutions to the runners.

Speaking of runners, Ava's parents picked her up early, before Ms. Jodhi could change her. Her mom seemed bothered that Ava came home with a diaper of poop on Friday, and wanted to talk to someone about it. Ms. Jodhi was in the bathroom with the rest of the kids, I told her later and she said that Ava had a dry diaper after Ms. Jodhi changed her at 4. Ms. Jodhi said her mom agreed to our changing schedule, but is now going back on what we agreed to. Luckily the mom just left, she didn't make a big stink, I think explaining to her that sometimes Ava goes into other classrooms and we have to find her also delays us changing her, enlightened her mom on how difficult it is to get her.

Helena, an older girl from another class, has been picked up late three times. The last time, her mom came after 6pm, when 5:30 is the latest pickup time. Ms. Jodhi approached her mom when she came to pick her up, and Ms. Jodhi needed her to sign a paper acknowledging that she's been late. She refused to and left. Ms. Jodhi could not stop talking about it after. How the mother asked if she was late, which she knows she is because they changed the schedule to accommodate her work schedule. The mother was also wearing a tube top and teeny shorts with her cheeks hanging out. She's a larger woman, so there was a lot of skin exposed. It felt like a moment out of Abbott Elementary.
