There were only 12 kids when I arrived at 2pm. For the first time, all of the kids were asleep, even the always restless Sophie. Miss Leslie said she had them running laps in the morning, that's why they're all sleeping.
Not only were there fewer kids, but both Penny and Eliana were not at school today. Penny graduated to TK and Eliana left early for a swimming lesson, which the aides support because she has so much energy. I didn't have my two little blonde shadows.
The dynamic on the playground was different too. Less fighting and fussing. Without Penny, Sophie had to find someone else to play with, and surprisingly it was Luca! They ran around together all afternoon, they usually don't even acknowledge each other, but they played really well. Without Eliana, Ezekiel decided to sneak up on me, poke me and hide, then say ROOOAR, after I told him he's a little dinosaur like what's on his shirt. That was the most playful Ezekiel has ever been with me, I like the opportunities when the head count is different.
Ms. V is coming back tomorrow, so we had no teacher again. Emma and some of the other kids wanted to play in the older kid area with bubbles, so I walked them over and noticed a teacher I occasionally see, Ms. Roberts, took over the little kids area that I left. I really appreciate how the teachers and aides are always looking out.
