Crescent Heights Day 10

We all had a case of the Monday's today. A lot of crying and whining.

Eliana didn't nap and was playing around and talking loudly. Miss Leslie told me that she used me as a threat to Eliana, telling her that I will make her sit outside for a timeout. Eliana said to her that I will use the timer for the bikes when they play outside and Miss Leslie said not today, and Eliana cried. We used the threat again at the end of nap time and she wailed, her face turned splotchy red. She loudly cried the entire time Ms. Sosie and I got the kids to go to the bathroom, so like 15-20 minutes.

Emma's little sister, Abigail, started today, she is still in diapers. She pooped her diaper when she napped, and sobbed while we tried to change her. I had to wipe my first poopy butt and it took 3 wipes. Then after all of the kids played outside and we were washing up to go inside, Abigail was pulling at her pants. I was the only aide left in our classroom, so I had to change her and there was more poop and more crying. One of the teachers popped their head in when they heard the crying and I told them it's her first day. Mrs. Robinson said she had to help separate Abigail and her mother at drop-off today.

I used my mean voice on Penny and Emma when they fought over the water bottle cart and wouldn't let go when I asked politely. Penny's eyes started welling up after I sternly said their names and told them to let go. Emma let go immediately and I had to comfort Penny before she started crying, I told her that I used that voice when she's not being safe, because I need her to hear me and stop. I don't want her getting hurt by pushing the cart. Mrs. Robinson overheard and said that Penny needs to listen so I don't have to raise my voice. Penny calmed down and was all hugs and wanting to sit on my lap.

When Sophie left today, Penny wanted to hug her goodbye. Sophie said she didn't want a hug because she's scared of Penny. Penny was about to cry, so I told her that it's Sophie's choice and we have to listen to her consent. Sophie's dad tried to talk Sophie into giving her a hug, but Sophie replied that she's scared of Penny. I am not one to force kids to hug each other. Kids need to learn consent and to respect hearing no from each other.
