Charles was out of control in a whole new way today. He was throwing hits and pulling hair. In the apparatus, he was swinging his arms, hitting the orders kids in the stomach. Then he took paper airplanes out of girls hands and hitting them when they tried to get it back. One little girl tried to get it back and he pulled her braid, while her dad watched. I grabbed Charles and sat him down with me until they left. I let him go and he knocked Tilly over and took her plane. I went to Ms. Jodhi and she jokingly ran away, so Ms. Robinson stepped in for discipline. She kept him with her while our class went inside, he had to see us go without him.
He went into the bathroom with Ms. Jodhi and the other kids and started flushing the toilets and putting his hands in there. I left Ms. Jodhi, she knew what happened last time I was with Charles and the flushing toilets. She called me to bring him into the classroom, Ms. Champ followed Charles inside. Mr. Wayne was inside with the girls who were done with the bathroom. I helped Ms. Jodhi with the girls left in the bathroom, I could hear Ms. Champ yelling at Charles to clean up to stop. He wouldn't listen. Ms. Champ said she saw him push Abigail at breakfast this morning, that he's a violent one. Somehow Mr. Wayne, Ms. Leslie and Ms. Jodhi never catches his violence, but I'm glad I'm not the only one and the principal even sees it.
Mr. Wayne and I talked about how Classroom 2's teachers are not on board with helping with all the kids. He said Ms. Enkie and Ms. Gulley think they already have too many kids and don't want responsibility for any more. I also thought Ms. Gulley was a teacher, but she's an aide who likes to talk like she's more powerful. Mr. Wayne said that classroom 1 can hear them yell at each other and name call. I thought he meant the kids but he was talking about the teachers!
We had 14 kids today. We got through the diapers in 30 minutes. Ava refused to be changed, so Ms. Flores had to get involved when Ava dropped her body to the ground and Ms. Jodhi said I'm working too hard to try to change her.
Ever since I gave Amaya a hug when she was crying, she follows me around. I'm her friend. She followed me around the playground and when we came inside she joined me at the table with Zarah and Ellie and the kinetic sand. For a little girl who cries missing her mom all afternoon, she was having so much fun with the sand she didn't even notice her mom picking her up.
Ms. Jodhi said she was exhausted as she sat at the computer. I asked Abigail to go and give Ms. Jodhi a hug, and she happily agreed. Ms. Jodhi laughed and thanked Abigail and me. I told her that when I have tough moments here, a hug from a sweet kid reminds me the good side of this job.
