Crescent Heights Day 52

I interviewed for the Parks and Rec Specialist job this morning. Some of the questions were pretty specific to Parks and Rec, I tried my best answering but ended up saying that I'd ask my supervisor for input. I told Ms. Jodhi how the interview went well except for those questions that left me answering that I'd ask for help, and she said those are trick questions that I answered exactly right! It made me feel so much better. She also said that Crescent Heights tested me to see if I can handle the worst before I can move onto Parks. I told her it trained me so I could use the experience in my interviews and she said, that's the same as testing! I love my mentor.

We had two new girls start today. Jazmine, who was crying when I arrived and Abigayle (pronounced with a Spanish accent that I can't master) who was silent. Charlie and Tilly were also sobbing and wailing when I arrived. Ms. Leslie and Ms. Sosie were with them in the bathroom, the cries echoing through the hallway. It's unusual for the older girls to cry like that, but Tilly did just welcome a new baby sister. Charlie... I have no explanation.

Ms. Leslie wanted us to start changing before 2pm, she said we have to because we have so many kids. I said Mr. Wayne's point about letting them nap until 2:15-30 and Ms. Leslie said we can't rely on our old schedule, everything has to be different now that we have more kids. So we discovered why we started changing kids early. It's so confusing. Ms. Flores was still at lunch, so she could not add to the debate.

Ms. Sosie and I slowly started changing the kids who were already awake. No more waking up kids for the order of pickups.

There was another woman in the classroom, dressed business casual in a blouse and slacks. I didn't know who she was, but she was helping with the kids and talking to the teachers. When we went outside, Ms. Flores stayed inside with this lady and the kids eating their snacks. At one point, Max went running so I asked Ms. Flores for help. The lady went out to chase him. Ms. Flores told me that this morning Ms. Champ came outside and told all the teachers that the kids can go anywhere in the playground, everyone is responsible for watching all the kids, not just their class. So basically, our aides don't need to chase Max/Ava/Charles across the yard.

When we finally had a moment to breathe, I introduced myself and asked if she's a substitute aide. Her name is Lynn and she's from the district to help assess/support the classroom's special needs. Something like that, not an aide, more of a district person. I'm shocked Ms. Champ let her in with the lack of staff to student numbers.

When we got close to 3:30, time to go inside, we gathered the kids. Ms. Enkie said Max is in her classroom alone, so I went to get him and he ran into the hallway. I followed him, Ms. Enkie went the other direction. He ran towards the kitchen, then towards the front desk/door. I could see Ms. Champ through the door and lightly yelled "Ms. Champ! Ms. Champ! Help!" and she just barely caught him. Ms. Enkie and two parents with their kids blocked the way. I'm glad Ms. Champ could see first hand the escapee.
