Crescent Heights Day 38

Today was the last day before the older kids change classrooms and the new kids start. All the teachers were here. Things were mild until the kids got otter pops and cupcakes towards the end of the day.

The sugar made them maniacs, nobody could sit still, except Eliana. Surprisingly, her forehead only had a faint bruise, easily covered with her blonde curls. The other kids were running around, screaming, Samantha kept lying back on her chair, but Eliana sat silently, slowly eating her cupcake and watching Peppa Pig on the screen. Ms. Jodhi says that her parents don't give her sugar at home, so she behaves when she gets it at school so she won't get in trouble and have it taken away. Samantha on the other hand was whining, disobeying, defying.

Zarah kept running around the room, not listening. Ms. Jodhi put her in a timeout in the library. After she calmed down, she was released into the room and sat on the carpet. Abigail was copying Samantha, lying on the chair and not listening. I took her to have a timeout in the library and she cried and pushed the rolling furniture trying to get out. Ms. Jodhi said to watch out she's strong. Abigail kept crying and looking at me, I talked to her calmly and sweetly, agreeing how frustrating it is for her to be isolated. Ms. Jodhi laughed at my little voice talking to Abigail so reasonably when she's being so unreasonable. It's what my mom and I do with the crying kids in our family, we validate their feelings in nice tones.

No sugar in the classroom. It never works out.
