Crescent Heights Day 31

Today felt like a war zone, and Ms. Jodhi was here, Ms. Leslie was out, so we were short an aide.

Zarah peed in her sleep, we had to change all of her clothes. Enrique woke up crying, screaming, and coughing, When we went to change him, he had loose stool seeping out of his diaper. We moved him to the changing table, his grandparents arrived to pick up his cousin, Jorge, who wouldn't let any of the aides change him today. His grandfather took Jorge away, and his grandmother stayed by as we changed Enrique. He was kicking and screaming, like never before. He's been grumpy, but never pushing us away with his legs and howling in the classroom. I turned my back for one second and suddenly his legs are in the air, against the wall, and Ms. Sosie is trying to hold his squirming body.

This stomach bug is spreading. Emma was back, and Abigail and Zarah, who all have had symptoms this week. I brought a tiny hand sanitizer that I applied every chance I could get.

By 3:30, it was only me and Ms. Jodhi. Ms. Sosie left and Mr. Wayne covered for Ms. Leslie earlier and left. We brought the kids inside because they were too much to wrangle outside with just two of us. Samantha and Emma had been in trouble when we first went outside, and Samantha was in trouble when we came inside. She cried as she sat at the 4-person table in isolation with Sophie. Both Samantha and Sophie cried and screamed at the top of their lungs today. Ms. Robinson came in to see the commotion. Ms. Jodhi says that Ms. Robinson is getting all of older girls from our class next month and likes to come by to observe their behavior.

I finally told Ms. Jodhi and Ms. Flores about my talk with Ms. Champ. They both told me not to worry and that I'm great with the kids. Ms. Jodhi said that the front office started hiding the snacks from her, nobody spoke to her about not taking snacks, they just made them unavailable to her. It's like changing the policy but not directly addressing why you're making the change. Ms. Jodhi brought up again how she was not hired by Ms. Champ, her old boss was the same way she and Ms. Robinson are, they discipline the children and put them first. Ms. Jodhi apologized for Ms. Champ chastising me, she said I'm great with the kids and that she takes Ms. Champ to the bathrooms so she can see what we're dealing with, because unless you're seeing it, you have no idea what's happening.

Ms. Jodhi said she will write me a recommendation if I ever need one. She said that Ms. Kelly isn't coming back because she doesn't like how things work here, that's also why Ms. V didn't return. I feel validated.
