Yes Ms. Jodhi, no Ms. Leslie, and no sub for Ms. Leslie, which means Mr. Wayne leaves at 3:30 instead of 4:30 because he covered Ms. Leslie's morning shift. I immediately feel the shortage when the kids wake up from their nap. I assembled the snacks and Ms. Sosie and Ms. Flores took the kids to the bathroom and changed the diapers in the quiet library area.
Zarah woke up crying. I held her as she cried and realized she wet herself in her sleep. Mr. Wayne said it was the second time TODAY that it happened. It's also the second day in a row. She's regressing, she was the only non-diapered two year old in the group.
It felt like it was only me and Ms. Jodhi with the 13 kids outside. We went inside earlier than normal, shortly after 3:30. The kids were loud in the hallway as Ms. Champ was leaving for the day. I kept my voice very nice and Ms. Jodhi had the kids give Ms. Champ hugs goodbye. She smiled and slipped out the door after hugging Honor and Tiana.
I saved the extra snacks that weren't eaten to give the kids after they washed their hands. Ms. Alex passed through our room and I told her where the snacks came from when she looked at the snacks. She nodded and said one time the kids complained about those cookies tasting bad, and they realized when they tried them that the manufacturer forgot a bunch of ingredients. I have a feeling she was the one who tattled on Ms. Jodhi, so I told her what happened after and she thanked me.
Ms. Jodhi told me that yesterday, Emma told her to "stay black" and that she had a big butt. Ms. Jodhi was shocked and embarrassed and didn't respond. It was in front of Emma's mom who didn't respond. Ms. Jodhi knows she learned it at home. It's the first racial thing I've heard at school, it's really disappointing that 3-year olds are picking up hurtful things.
